Our greatest environmental challenges—from global climate change to local water and materials management—cannot be solved without the direct involvement of those most impacted. When engagement is lacking in environmental efforts, sustainability goals often go unmet.

At the Institute for Sustainability Engagement (ISE), we look at who is engaged in sustainability efforts and how they participate. We know that sustainability efforts require deep, meaningful, community engagement in order to succeed.
